“Union of Young Christians of the Congo for Reform-Unijecre” promotes Sustainable Development.
CREATION
Created on October 25, 2015, in Bukavu, South Kivu-DRC, Unijecre has been committed to the development of energy efficiency and renewable energies while protecting the environment, an approach based on a global and constructed approach to water resources over a coherent perimeter. From a hydrological or hydrogeological point of view, management of biodiversity makes it possible to achieve, over time, a balance between needs and available resources while respecting the excellent functionality of ecosystems and anticipating climate change.
AREA OF INTERVENTION
Environmental protection and integrated water resources management are their main intervention areas. Their subdomains include Agriculture and Health. They all reflect our commitment to human dignity and social justice, improving the population’s living conditions, and increasing biodiversity and natural resources.
PAST PROJECTS
Since its creation, we have carried out various activities to protect the environment. They include Reforestation and awareness of climate change among populations, the fight against land degradation and capacity building on sustainable forest management, strengthening of governance of natural resources in the fight against climate change and ecological resilience through reforestation, improvement of the agricultural productivity of small market gardeners, promotion of the schooling of vulnerable children through the distribution of goats to their parents.
PLANNED ACTIVITIES
To mobilize solutions on a territorial scale favouring synergies between social benefits and positive environmental externalities, in a perspective of sustainable development of the Democratic Republic of Congo, the organization “ Union of Young Christians of Congo for the Reform” integrates the issue of preserving water quality into its activities through:
- Integrated water resources management
- Fight against deforestation
- Water acidification
- Biodiversity management
- Conservation of endangered species
- Development of Marine Protected Areas
- Development of energy efficiency and renewable energies
- Study of climate change and its effects
Our approach is based on PARTICIPATORY ACTION-RESEARCH (Research: Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Humanitarian actions).
