World Values Day

World Values Day is a global event dedicated to discussing the values that matter most to people and how they influence our world. On Thursday, October 17th, 2024, GSFN (Global Sustainable Futures Network) joined Simon Gibson, Founder of World Speech Day, Charles Fowler, Global Coordinator at World Values Day, Augustine Martin Martinezz, CEO at The Anti-Glossophobia Academy, and others with the GSFN global coordinator, Khaled Hamed, to explore issues of global citizenship, governance, and the diversity of values that shape our collective future.

We invited world citizens to participate in 3-minute discussions in which they shared their thoughts on the issues that resonate with them—ethics, governance, culture, or the values that drive change. These discussions, which were pre-recorded or live, participated in a broader conversation on the differences and sensitivities in global value systems.

The event contributes to this continuous global dialogue. Your voice matters; together, we can illuminate diverse perspectives and shape a more inclusive and value-driven future.

I am genuinely overwhelmed by the incredible response we’ve received for the Global Citizenship debate. Your enthusiasm and passion have been remarkable, and I am excited to share the livestream link and recorded videos for individuals and groups. Each video has played a pivotal role in making this debate impactful and insightful.

I warmly invite you to join the Global Sustainable Futures Network (GSFN) and join a global community committed to inspiring positive change and shared values. Together, we can shape a brighter, more sustainable future for all.

Dr Renuka Thakore Speech for World Values Day 2024 – GSFN

Dr Renuka Thakore, Founder & CEO, Global Sustainable Futures Network CIC, World Value Day

Distinguished guests, partners, and friends.

It is an honour to join you today to celebrate World Values Day, a day that calls us to reflect on the values that shape our lives, our communities, and our world. At Global Sustainable Futures Network (GSFN), values are the foundation upon which we build every initiative, every collaboration, and every action we take.

In today’s world, we face unprecedented challenges—climate change, social inequality, resource depletion, and economic instability. These global crises compel us to rethink how we live, work, and engage with one another. At GSFN, we believe that sustainability and collaboration are the core values needed to guide us toward a future where both people and the planet thrive.

Sustainability isn’t just about environmental stewardship—it’s about ensuring that all communities, especially those most vulnerable, have access to opportunities, resources, and a healthy environment. Our work promotes the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which encompass everything from gender equality and climate action to reducing poverty and creating resilient communities. It’s about creating lasting change—and that begins with the values that drive us.

The second value I’d like to emphasize is collaboration. In a globalized world, no one organization or nation can solve these challenges alone. This is why GSFN is proud to work with diverse partners from different sectors, countries, and backgrounds. Whether through our climate action projects, research collaborations, or educational programs, we are committed to bringing together the best minds and hearts to create impactful solutions. Our Global South Summits, for instance, reflect our dedication to elevating local voices and ensuring that those who are often left behind are part of the decision-making process.

However, all these initiatives are fueled by one universal value—hope. Hope in the belief that, together, we can co-create a future where equity, inclusivity, and sustainability are not just ideals, but realities. Hope that through dialogue, shared responsibility, and persistent action, we can leave a positive legacy for generations to come.

As we commemorate World Values Day, I invite each of you to reflect on the values that guide your own work and your daily life. In the face of complexity and uncertainty, it is our shared values that will keep us grounded and our collective vision that will move us forward.

Let’s continue to act, inspire, and lead with values that bring about real transformation—because together, we can build a better world.
