Dr Renuka Thakore participated in the Round Table: “Technology and Digital Transformation in Surmounting Obstacles Facing Women in Science”
An exchange was moderated by Dr. Amira Senbel, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), on the future of empowering women in the digital transformation era: strategies and best practices.
The launch of the Arab Women in Science Platform is poised to unfold in an enchanting celebration in Alexandria. Convening an assembly of approximately a hundred participants across diverse generations spanning natural sciences, human and social sciences, the occasion will be adorned with insightful conversations. Delving into the challenges faced by women scientists in the Arab region, the discussion will seamlessly intertwine with the significance of advancing women in science, technology, and innovation – setting the stage for the unveiling of the platform. The initiative is driven by the voices of Arab women scientists themselves, shaping a brighter future in the world of science.
A working session was held in the afternoon to structure this new community together, find innovative avenues that ensure the inclusion of every woman and initiate lasting systemic transformations in the scientific realm; and fostering gender equality and supporting women scientistss across the Arab region.
Interpretation was available in English and Arabic.
An exhibition of 10 successful women scientists from Egypt and Sudan, with their printed portraits and success stories, was also displayed at the event venue. It was open to the public to discover the faces of women contributing to advancing science and sustainable development in the region.
